Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) is the academic and training wing of Maya Entertainment Limited (MEL) .
A latent demand in the Indian industry for quality visual effects and animation professionals spurred the creation of MAAC in 2001 to train a large pool of creative talent. Starting from its first centre in Mumbai, the institute has spread to more than 60 centres and is the only animation training brand from India to have a successful presence in the Middle East , Nepal and Sri Lanka. This year alone about 10,000 students are members of the MAAC family. MAAC students are highly sought after in the industry with several leading studios like Rhythm and Hues, Prana, DQ Entertainment, Anirights and Papreekas recruiting heavily from the schools.
MAAC has the largest number of Autodesk certified faculty members and has recently qualified for certification from the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). CIE has agreed to validate MAAC's flagship AD3D and PD3D programmes after going through a detailed audit of MAACs faculty and courseware.
In keeping with its leadership in the industry, MAAC is the steward of the leading animated short film festival, 24 FPS. Started as an initiative to motivate students to create short films, 24 FPS has grown rapidly to become a major industry event in which students from institutes all over India contribute their films. An international jury with luminaries from ILM, Dreamworks etc. judge the categories and the event culminates in a major awards night which receives extensive media coverage.
