Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) is the academic and training wing of Maya Entertainment Limited (MEL) .
A latent demand in the Indian industry for quality visual effects and animation professionals spurred the creation of MAAC in 2001 to train a large pool of creative talent. Starting from its first centre in Mumbai, the institute has spread to more than 60 centres and is the only animation training brand from India to have a successful presence in the Middle East. MAAC students are highly sought after in the industry with several leading studios like Rhythm and Hues India, Prana, DQ Entertainment, BIG Animation, Paprikaas, and Prime Focus, recruiting heavily from the schools.
MAAC has the largest number of Autodesk certified faculty members and also has a strategic partnership with Wacom. MAAC has the unique distinction of having its flagship diploma courses certificied by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).
In keeping with its creative orientation, MAAC is the steward of the pioneering animated short film festival, 24 FPS. 24 FPS has grown rapidly to become a major industry event in which students from institutes all over India contribute their films. An international jury with luminaries from ILM, Dreamworks etc. judges the categories and the event culminates in a major awards night which receives extensive media coverage.
The education division has recently launched new initiatives including Maac Junior Toon Club, to impart creative training to children in the age group 7-14, and MAAC Creative Shop, to provide a platform for students to pitch their ideas to a professional panel.
